T20 SUMMIT 2019
About
Think20 (T20), the G20’s research and policy advice network, will hold the T20 Summit in Tokyo on 26-27 May 2019. The T20 Summit will bring together top policy experts to detail innovative T20 Japan policy solutions for consideration during the G20 Leaders’ summit in Osaka on 28-29 June.
Focus
Developed under the T20 Japan theme “Seeking a Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Society” and informed by evidence-based research and analysis, T20 Japan policy recommendations will focus on helping G20 countries tackle pressing global challenges ranging from infrastructure gaps, aging populations, and digital disruption to trade frictions and political discord, climate change and African development.
T20 Japan is an official engagement group of Japan’s 2019 G20 presidency chaired by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), in coordination with the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) and Institute for International Monetary Affairs (IIMA).
Speakers
Setting the tone at the T20 Summit will be a message from Japan Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe and keynote remarks from Bank of Japan Governor Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda, Kenya Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage Dr. Amina Mohamed, and Nobel laureate Prof. Robert Engle of New York University.
The T20 Summit will also feature insights from Representative of Japan for G20 Summit Ambassador Koji Tomita, Japan Finance Vice Minister Mr. Masatsugu Asakawa, and dozens of global think tank heads and senior policy experts. A dinner will be hosted by Japan Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Kiyoto Tsuji on 26 May.
Remarks from T20 Japan Chair and ADBI Dean Prof. Naoyuki Yoshino, JIIA President Mr. Kenichiro Sasae and IIMA President Mr. Hiroshi Watanabe will help to anchor the T20 Summit proceedings.
